Materials Engineering Laboratory

Plenco's Materials Engineering Laboratory, with a staff of experienced technicians and engineers, utilizes a broad range of equipment and test instrumentation to provide technical support for our customers.

Compounding capabilities include laboratory equipment for materials formulation development. Additional pilot plant equipment is used for sampling and scale-up evaluation.

Compression, transfer, injection, and injection-compression process capabilities are used for molding test specimens, customer prototyping, and trouble-shooting molds. Also available is auxiliary equipment such as preformers, preplasticizers, and preheaters.

Testing capabilities measure flammability, color-matching, and environmental exposure. Dynamic fatigue, short-term creep, Poisson's ratio, and other material characterizations are tested per ASTM, ISO, JIS, and UL standards.

Plenco's Materials Engineering Laboratory has received accreditation from major corporations such as General Motors and AMP and has received accreditation to ISO 17025 from the American Association for Laboratory Accreditation (A2LA) as declared in the Laboratory’s scope of accreditation, Scope 598-01. The laboratory is qualified and approved to test Plenco products for registration by Underwriters Laboratories, Canadian Standards Association, and the U.S. Department of Defense, as well as providing data for product and customer certifications.

Plenco's Materials Engineering Laboratory has an established quality system as described in the Quality Assurance Manual. The laboratory maintains ongoing quality programs for proficiency training, continuous improvement, and instrument calibration.
