Held onLakeMichigan offshore at Sheboygan
T
he 2014 International Association forDisabled Sailing
BlindMatchRacingWorldChampionship, first ever in
theUnited States, was heldonLakeMichigan just
offshore at Sheboygan startingwith anopening ceremony
Sept. 9 and concludingwith awarding prizes Sept. 14 after the
final race.
Sixteen teams representingAustralia, NewZealand,
Great Britain, Italy, Spain, United States, Canada, Israel, and
Japanparticipated. Thematch race format was a round-robin
competition inwhich two teams racedhead-to-head in equally
matched Sonar keelboats equippedwith theHomerus
®
Autonomous Sailing System.
Buoyswith a unique sound signalmarked the course, and
eachboat had its own sound signal that changedwhenonport
or starboard tack.
